Customer Review: A Nightshift Delight

My roommate and I are devoted coffee drinkers and have spend a lot of our time researching the world of the black bean. This machine, for its price, delivers excellent quality in build, dependability, and the resulting beverage.If you are looking for cars you might know that closing the door of the vehicle under investigation sometimes reveals the quality of its build. Some doors fall in with a clattering metallic noise, others give you the impression that the car was made from one piece and that everything fits in tightly. The Melitta M&B certainly feels like the latter one. All the mechanical parts fit in perfectly and the machine does not work if any of them are missing (an important security aspect since it includes a bean mill).
The seven possible grinds deliver what they promise. Is the grinder set on the highest setting it turns off after exactly 40 seconds, as promised in the brochure. The stainless steel basket in which the beans are ground keeps the coffee inside, even if it was ground on the highest setting. Never again will you have to buy filters and curse if for some reason one of them folded up during the brewing process making your coffee the Turkish kind.
The machine heates the water amazingly fast and if you prewarm the thermal unit it will remain hot for ca. 4 hours. Even if your coffee is too cold to be enjoyed a quick trip to the microwave will not be as bad as heating up coffee that has been sitting in an open container for the afternoon. The thermal unit preserves the aroma very well.
The amount that I paid for this machine is well justified in terms of what was delivered. If you are looking into spending a similar amount the Melitta M&B should be a good choice.
It certainly has made my nightshifts at work or at the study desk more enjoyable. Never before was sleep deprivation so much fun.

Winner of the American Culinary Institute's Best of Show Award for Excellence, the Mill & Brew integrates two products into one space-saving unit. The built-in coffee mill grinds up your whole beans to the desired fineness (chosen from seven settings) and then proceeds right into the brewing process, eliminating the mess of transferring grounds and the countertop clutter of two large appliances. You can set the system to make coffee immediately or program the LED clock/timer up to 24 hours in advance so you have fresh-brewed coffee ready first thing in the morning. A stainless-steel carafe holds up to 10 cups of fresh coffee and keeps it hot for hours. The mill has a permanent stainless-steel filter basket for beans, so purchasing paper coffee filters is unnecessary. In addition, the Mill & Brew has a large water indicator window for determining how many cups you're making and hidden cord storage for convenience. Safety features include drip stop, which halts the coffee flow while you remove the carafe during brewing, and automatic shutoff after one hour.
